Nitschke Mounds County Park

Habitat: 54 acres of Oak-Hickory Forest, Native and Restored Grassland and Open Water.  

Best Birds: A 1-mile interpretive trail meanders through springs, ponds and old oaks.  Species include Great-Horned Owl, Wood Duck, Brown Creeper, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Hairy Woodpecker, Hermit Thrush, Eastern Wood-Pewee, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, White-breasted Nuthatch, Red-eyed Vireo, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Northern Parula, Wood Thrush, Ovenbird and Rose-breasted Grosbeak.  

Directions: Four miles west of the city of Horicon.  A parking lot is north of County Highway E.
