Fish Camp County Park
Fish Camp County Park, Dane County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot
Habitat: Open Water, Marsh, Dogwood Swamp.
Best Birds: Scope from the boat launch to look for migratory mergansers, scoters, diving ducks, Horned Grebe, Common Loon, gulls and terns. When lake ices over look for hundreds of Tundra Swan overwintering in open water where the Yahara River enters the lake (Trumpeter Swans occasionally mixed in). The dogwood swamp patch between the boat launch and canoe launch is reliable for Rusty Blackbird in April migration. Osprey nest annually on high power line poles that transverse property. Purple Martin houses are occupied annually. On the rugged trail starting at the boat launch the marsh is good for Sora and Virginia Rail in spring.
Directions: 15 miles southeast of Madison. Enter the park and proceed to the boat launch area.
