Habitat:  Oak-hickory Hardwood Forest, Bottomland Hardwood Forest, Native and Restored Grassland including Goat Prairie, and Successional Oldfield.

Best Birds: Walking to the Mississippi River Bluff prairie from the parking lot off North Buck Creek Road you will see Field Sparrow, Eastern Meadowlark and Bobolink. Woodpeckers, flycatchers Eastern Towhee, and Scarlet Tanager are common in the woodlands.  At the native prairie watch for Field and Lark Sparrow. From the Buck Creek parking area look for Acadian Flycatcher and Cerulean Warbler in the woodlands.  Night birding from any of the parking areas may produce Whip-poor-will, Screech Owl, and Barred Owl.  

Directions: 40 miles S of LaCrosse. In and southeast of the village of Ferryville off County Road C, Lagoon Street, Buck Creek Road, and North Buck Creek Road. Except for the trail from the North Buck Creek parking area trails are limited and not normally maintained. The parking area on North Buck Creek Road (43.350203, -91.067855) will give you access to a woodland and goat prairie..  Along County Road C pull off at 43.34717, -91.08531.  A small parking lot is on Lagoon Street east of the village park at 43.343404, -91.081485.  And a parking area on Buck Creek Road provides access to southern portion of the site at 43.337670, -91.065011
