Habitat: Oak-Hickory Forest, Red Cedar hillsides, Cropland, Non-Native Grassland and Pasture, Native and Restored Grassland

Best Birds:  A portion of this circle route follows Gran Grae Creek, a cold water Driftless Area trout stream.  Listen and look for Wild Turkey, cuckoos, Pileated Woodpecker, flycatchers, vireos, Tufted Titmouse, Lark Sparrow, Savannah Sparrow, Eastern Towhee, and Dickcissel. At bridges check for Wilson’s Snipe and Louisiana Waterthrush. At night  American Woodcock, Whip-poor-will, and Barred and Eastern Screech-Owl may be present. West of the farm at 57951 Irish Ridge Road look for Orchard Oriole. Check the two short dead end roads, Peak Road and Ranch Road, for Pileated Woodpecker, Horned Lark, Tufted Titmouse, Scarlet Tanager, Field Sparrow, and Bobolink.

Directions:  Four miles ENE of Prairie du Chien. Start and finish of loop route: Bouska Road and Irish Ridge Road intersection (43.063768,  -91.062140).   East on State Highway 27 and Irish Ridge Road to Bouska Road.  Bird Bouska Road to Gran Grae Road, right on Gran Grae Road to Irish Ridge Road and back to the starting location.  All roadside property is in private ownership so park or stop in safely and do not block field entrances. Traffic is not heavy so birding from the roadway works. The best owl stops are 50 yards past fire number 33788 Bouska Road (43.079228, -91.055002) and at the bridge 100 yards past fire number 33696 Bouska Road (43.079181, -042943).
