County MM Pond

Habitat: Open Water, Mudflats, Marsh, Non-native Grassland and Pasture, Cropland, and Mixed Coniferous Forest.

Best Birds: In migration this site attracts waterfowl and shorebirds and waterbirds, including

Green-winged Teal, Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead, Hooded Merganser, Pied-billed Grebe, andSolitary, Pectoral, Spotted, Least, Semipalmated, and Baird’s Sandpiper.

Also check for Red-headed and Pileated Woodpecker, Eastern Wood-Pewee, and Bobolink.

Directions: 25 miles NE of Eau Claire/16 miles east of Chippewa Falls. About ½ mile south of Hwy 29 on County Hwy MM. 

Site Address and Additional Information:

This site has a pond north of MM, plus a small island in the pond. Bird habitat is good on both sides of MM. These ponds are on private property so bird from the roadside only.
