Hilbert Landfill Area

https://ebird.org/hotspot/L4504332?yr=all&m=&rank=mrec

Habitat: Cropland and Industrial. The massive landfill is mostly surrounded by cropland.

Best Birds: Birding here is primarily done in winter when the landfill attracts Iceland Gull, Glaucous Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, and Common Raven.  Drive the surrounding roads to find Snowy Owl, Horned lark, Lapland Longspur, and Snow Bunting.

Directions: 14 miles SE of Appleton. The Hilbert Landfill property cannot be directly accessed for birding, so best viewing is from McHugh Road.  Depending on where they are currently adding material, the gate on McHugh Road is a good starting place (44.102503, -88.184095).  Continue South on McHugh from there if necessary.  Do not attempt to access from the GFL Environmental Building on Schneider Road.
