Hurlbut Street ponds

https://ebird.org/hotspot/L5919899

Habitat: Marsh, Open Water, Urban/Residential/Industrial.

Best Birds: Although in a deeply industrial setting, this location is productive for marshbirds including rails and dabbling ducks. Great Egret and Black-crowned Night-Heron are almost always hunting the pond. Shorebirds are occasionally present depending on water level, including Wilson’s Phalarope which has bred here. Restoration plans in the next few years offer hopes of substantially improving the habitat at the site.

Directions: Exit Interstate 43 at the Atkinson Drive exit and follow Atkinson Drive north to the stop sign at Hurlbut Street. Turn east and the site in on the south side of the road in 0.3 miles.
