Bay Shore County Park

Cecil Depeau Bay Shore Park, Brown County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Open Water, Mixed Coniferous Forest, Northern Hardwood Forest

Best birds: Very high numbers of diving ducks, mergansers, loons, and grebes are observed each year, especially early in spring migration and late in fall migration. Long-tailed Ducks are annual in May, sometimes in high numbers, and this is the most consistent place on the lower Bay to find Red-necked Grebe and scoters in fall. The unique cedar bluff habitat offers locally uncommon breeders like Winter Wren and Black-and-white Warbler. The hardwood forest on the edge of the upper bluff can be good for warblers and other migrating passerines.

Directions: 15 miles northeast of the city of Green Bay. Exit Hwy 57 on Gravel Pit road and the park is immediately north of State Highway 57 within sight of the highway. The large parking lot at the boat launch (44.63769, -87.80153) is one of the best areas to scan Green Bay. Due to the steep grade to the boat landing, vehicles are not allowed during snow and ice cover.
