Noel J. Cutright Atlas Legacy Fund

Noel J Cutright AtlasThe Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas II Steering Committee is honoring Dr. Noel J. Cutright for his invaluable role with both the first and second Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlases and to commemorate his lifelong contribution to bird conservation.

A special memorial fund, the Noel J. Cutright Atlas Legacy Fund, has been established.

All contributions and species sponsorships made in memory of Noel Cutright will be applied directly to Atlas field work (surveys and/or point counts).

In addition to spearheading the massive volunteer effort for development and completion of the first Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas, for which he served on the Steering Committee and as the Atlas' senior editor, Noel served until his death on the Steering Committee for WBBA II.

Noel was twice president of the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology. He founded the Riveredge Bird Club in Newburg and the Western Great Lakes Bird and Bat Observatory in Belgium. Noel was the spirit and passion behind launching two far-reaching statewide projects, the Wisconsin Bird Conservation Initiative and Bird City Wisconsin. He participated in 40 years of federal Breeding Bird Surveys and hundreds of Christmas Bird Counts. Prior to his death in late 2013, Noel received numerous awards for his dedicated service to birds and conservation.

If it is your intention to do so, please indicate your desire to honor Noel Cutright when you make an on-line Atlas contribution or species sponsorship, or when you submit a paper contribution form. Gifts in memory of Noel will be listed separately in the Atlas. In Noel's memory, we will together strive to produce an even better Breeding Bird Atlas II!
