Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at Riveredge Nature Center

Tune In! Just as it sounds...pun intended. Join DNR wildlife educator Liz Herzmann to practice identifying birds by their song. We all know birds can be beautiful by sight, but have you ever really taken the time to learn their songs and calls? Whose call sounds like "cheeseburger" or "drink your tea"? Each species has unique sounds that make identifying birds by ear a unique and challenging way to birdwatch. Many expert birders do not even need a pair of binoculars as they can identify nearly all bird species by ear. Learn about the difference between songs and calls, what to listen for and test your own skills. Part of the program will involve an interactive game where you will compete with fellow bird enthusiasts and test your bird sound knowledge. This program is great for all skill levels and will be a perfect way to prepare for the upcoming spring season as the birds begin calling!
Liz is the wildlife educator for the Wisconsin DNR at Horicon Marsh, where she has worked for 9 years. Liz and husband Matt are also the Dodge County coordinators for the Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas II.

The Riveredge Bird Club held its first meeting in March 1986 so this year we will celebrate our 33rd anniversary. The club, renamed in honor of its founder in 2014, brings together those who enjoy observing and learning more about birds and sharing these interests with others.
All activities are free and open to the public. Attend a meeting to become a member and receive our bimonthly e- newsletter, The Timberdoodle News, edited by Dani Baumann, who welcomes contributions.
