Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at Riveredge Nature Center

March marks our 33rd anniversary celebration, and the 5th is also Mardi Gras, so we’ll have special refreshments and two special speakers.

The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program has been a vital tool to preserve habitat in Wisconsin for decades. Many of our favorite birding haunts are created using funds from the program. But how does that happen? Where does the money come from? Who decides what lands are preserved? Join us as we welcome Michael John Jaeger, past president of the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology and the new editor of its quarterly journal, The Passenger Pigeon, to explain why the program is in jeopardy, why it's so important to our birds and how you can join Team Knowles Nelson to help.
The future of the Fund beyond June 2020, when it is currently set to expire, will be explored. Look at how birders, as beneficiaries of this exceptional program, can participate in the upcoming state budget process to help extend Stewardship past its current expiration date.

PLUS: A Preview of Riveredge BioBlitz
The Milwaukee Public Museum will hold its 2019 BioBlitz at Riveredge from 3 p.m. June 14 to 3 p.m. June 15. Julia Colby, MPM’s vertebrate & invertebrate collections manager, will give us a short preview and hopes to recruit volunteer participants.

All activities are free and open to the public. Attend a meeting to become a member and receive our bimonthly e- newsletter, The Timberdoodle News, edited by Dani Baumann, who welcomes contributions.
