Greenwood State Wildlife Area

Habitat:  Oak Savanna, Native and Restored Grassland, Northern Hardwood Forest.

Best Birds:  Pine Warbler are found in the rows of mature white pine along its western border. The grassland areas are home to Clay-colored, Grasshopper, Vesper, and Field Sparrows, Bobolink, Eastern and Western Meadowlark, and Dickcissel. Birds of the wooded area to the south include Black-billed Cuckoo, Barred Owl, Pileated Woodpecker, Common Raven, Brown Thrasher, Blue-winged, Golden-Winged, Chestnut-sided, and Nashville Warbler, and Scarlet Tanager.

Directions:  Approximately 35 miles south of Stevens Point. From Highway 39/51 take Exit #131 and follow County Highway FF to Browndeer Court and a parking area where the Ice Age Trail bisects the area, 44.093857, -89.489133. County FF forms the western border of the site and has a parking area. County C is the northern border and has a parking area, 44.111706, -89.489081.
