Muskego Park Hardwoods SNA

Muskego Park, Waukesha County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Southern Hardwoods Forest, Oak-Hickory Forest, Willow-Alder-Dogwood Swamp, Restored Grassland, Open Water, and Urban/Residential Park, with the 62 acre Muskego Hardwoods SNA.

Best Birds: Listen for Willow Flycatcher in the shrubby habitat.  Look for roosting Barred Owl and Cooper’s Hawk in the wooded areas.

Directions: 21 miles SW of Milwaukee. Entrance located 3 miles S of I-43, in the city of Muskego.  There are numerous parking lots, most of which provide access to trailheads. The park has about 3 miles of well maintained trails.  For the widest variety of birds, start at the SNA parking lot (picnic area #4), walk through the SNA, around the wetland, and loop back along the north edge of the park.  Trails in the wetland may be wet or flooded in the spring.
