Lake Como--Duck Lake Nature Trail, Walworth County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot
Habitat: Southern Hardwood Forest.
Best Birds: Duck Lake Nature Trail has been dubbed Warbler Walkway by birders. Worm-eating Warbler and Yellow-breasted Chat have been observed here, as has White-eyed Vireo (near the center of the trail, where Skunk Cabbage grows). The trail is a good place to see a mix of migrant songbirds.
Directions: 49 miles SW of Milwaukee. The Duck Lake Trail, just northwest of Lake Geneva, has two access points. The west end of the trail, which traverses what was once a railroad bed, may be reached from Schofield Road near the boat ramp for Lake Como, where one can park on the side of the road, 42.599638, -88.482338. Walk one block east through a residential area to the head of the trail, which begins behind a metal shed. The middle of the trail may be accessed from the north end of Grandview Drive where one may park next to the trail, 42.604895, -88.456546. At the east end park on Edgewood Dr near the trail entrance, 42.606029, -88.448686.
