Habitat: Mixed Coniferous Forest, Conifer Bog, Open Water, Hemlock-Hardwood Forest.  

Best Birds:  With the many lakes in the area there is excellent habitat for breeding Osprey, Bald Eagle and Common Loon.  Summer birding may produce Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Gray Jay, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Brown Creeper, Hermit Thrush, Purple Finch, White-throated Sparrow, Nashville, Golden-winged, Magnolia, Black-throated Green and Black-throated Blue Warbler and Northern Parula.

Directions: 40 miles SE of Ironwood, MI. From Boulder Junction travel north 5 miles on Cty M, then northwest for 7 miles on Cty B, and finally north for 0.5 mile on East Bay Road. The parking area and trailhead are located on the east side of the road (46.22986, -89.67303). The main trail is a 2.8 mile loop with many side trails with views of pristine lakes. The trails are fairly flat and easy. In winter some are groomed for skiing and snowshoeing.

This Nature Conservancy property contains 2,249 acres of mixed conifer and maple forest with 10 miles of undeveloped shoreline on 15 wild lakes.
