Habitat: Bottomland Hardwood, Alder Swamp, Residential, Open Water.
Best Birds: Below the Wolf River dam in Winter there are Mute and Trumpeter Swan, American Black Duck, Common Merganser, Common Goldeneye and occasionally, eating Buckthorn berries along the shoreline, Bohemian Waxwing.
In Summer, Cliff Swallow and Common NIghthawk can be observed over the river. A paved walking trail along the Wolf River is located in Kuckuk Park, about 1/2 mile downstream from the Highway M bridge. This trail is productive for migrating warblers in spring.
Directions: 39 miles NW of Green Bay/1 mile west of Shawano. Go west on Lieg Avenue (Highway M) about 1 mile to the Highway M bridge over the Wolf River. A parking area is at the Judd Park boat landing on South Water Street.
