Habitat: Southern Hardwood Forest, Cropland.
Best Birds: Barred Owl, Red-headed Woodpecker, Wood Thrush, Hooded Warbler, and Scarlet Tanager may be heard during their breeding season. The trail crosses a couple of seasonal and small creeks. These same creeks in winter may host Winter Wren.
Directions: 7 miles northwest of Racine. From Hwy 31 & 5 Mile Road, take 5 Mile Road west to Short Road. Turn north and continue to the parking lot/trailhead (42.800364, -87.855481). This nearly 0.9 mile one-way hiking and equestrian trail begins between agricultural land and a private woodland and eventually parallels the eastern side of Renak-Polak Maple-Beech Woods SNA.
