Habitat: Northern Hardwood Forest, Pine Plantation, Hardwood Swamp, Non-native Grassland.

Best Birds: Search the Black Ash seeps around the parking lot for Blue-winged and Golden-winged Warbler. Watch for Red-shouldered Hawk, Cooper’s Hawk, Barred Owl, Winter Wren, and Wood Thrush as you hike through mature hardwoods on multiple trails including Ice Age National Scenic Trail Spur up the hill alongside a deep ravine. Multiple species of flycatchers including Acadian Flycatcher are possible, as are a great variety of warbler species including Blackburnian Warbler, Mourning Warbler, and Northern Parula

Directions: 40 miles N of Hudson. Located at the northern limits of St. Croix Falls on Highway 87 (240th St.).

Across the highway to the west is an adjacent Hotspot: Indianhead Spur, Ice Age National Scenic Trail, a one mile hike through a rich mesic hardwood forest along the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. Look for warblers, flycatchers and an impressive display of spring wildflowers.
