Horn Lake Road

Horn Lake Rd./Ice Age Trail, Lincoln County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Bottomland Hardwoods, Northern Hardwood Forest, Open Water, Willow/Alder/Dogwood Swamp.

Best Birds: Look for, Broad Winged Hawk, Eastern Wood-Pewee, Yellow Throated Vireo, and Scarlet Tanager, in the high and dry hardwoods. In the transition areas from the swamps to the hardwoods look for Red Shouldered Hawk and Canada Warbler. In the bottomlands listen for Blackburnian Warbler and Black Throated Green Warbler. 

Directions: 25 Miles North of Wausau. Take Hwy H to the East of Hwy K about ½  Mile take Horseshoe Lake Dr. and about ¾ Mile east take a right and go south on Horn Lake Rd. Right before you get to a T intersection you can park and walk the Ice Age Trail (45.302354, -89.630672). At the intersection, the road to the west takes you to Horn Lake, while the road to the East will take you all the way through to Hwy R and Heineman Rd. There are a few little lakes that one can explore by taking the many roads that branch off of Horn Lake Rd.
