Moccasin Lake Ski Trail

Moccasin Lake Ski Trail, Langlade County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Cedar Swamps, Northern-Hardwood Forest, and Conifer Bog. 

Best Birds: The ski trails traverse more than 9 miles through a mixture of habitats that overlook river basins on both the western and eastern border. There is an extensive black spruce and tamarack bog along the southeastern trail that is great habitat for species such as Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Hermit Thrush, Purple Finch, White-throated Sparrow, and a variety of warblers. The trails on the western side of the property move from upland forests into lower swamp habitats and provide excellent chances to see species such as Ruffed Grouse, Broad-winged Hawk, Pileated WoodpeckerBlack-throated Green Warbler, and Blackburnian Warbler, and other species of flycatchers, thrushes, warblers, and vireos.    

Directions: 55 miles NE of Wausau/24.5 miles northwest of Antigo. A parking area is located on Bear Lane south from its intersection with Moccasin Lake Road (45.43613, -89.22849).
