Habitat: Northern Hardwood Forest, Marsh, and Open Water.
Best Birds: WThe trail in from the County A parking lot will fork, and following it left will lead to a regenerating logged area that is good for Golden-winged Warbler. Going straight at the fork will lead back to Peters Lake and should produce a variety of warblers and thrushes. Be aware that American Black Bear have been seen on the trails leading to Peters Lake. From the parking area on Hill Road take the path straight in to where it eventually joins up with the Ice Age Trail that traverses the property. American Woodcock, Alder Flycatcher, and a variety of sparrows have been seen. Shadick Springs is good for a variety of warblers and ducks such as Hooded Merganser.
Directions: 47 miles NE of Wausau/12 miles NE of Antigo off County Highway A. The main parking area is located on the east side of County Highway A (45.284973, -89.065370). Another parking area is located further east at the end of Hill Road north of its intersection with County Highway Q (45.278385, -89.028625). Another parking location is at Shadick Springs, (45.28661, -89.06865).
