Habitat: Northern Hardwood Forest, Open Water, and Conifer Bog.
Best Birds: Scan the lake from either the beach or small fishing pier for various ducks, Common Loon, and fishing Osprey. Walking the trails around the park and campground loop through the northern hardwoods, one can expect to find woodpeckers, vireos, thrushes, wrens, and flycatchers which include Alder Flycatcher, Blue-headed and Yellow-throated Vireo, Hermit Thrush, and Winter Wren. A \diversity of warblers exists throughout the park, such as Blackburnian, Golden-winged, Black-throated Green and Chestnut-sided.
Taking the Ice Age National Trail to Game Lake leads to a boardwalk with bog habitat on one side and open water on the other which is a great place to see Sora, Common Loon, Eastern Kingbird and Cedar Waxwing. Golden-crowned Kinglet and Purple Finch can be found in the park throughout the year.
Directions: 51 miles NE of Wausau/17 miles northeast of Antigo. The park entrance is on County Highway J (aka Park Road), 45.32921, -89.10497.
