Red River County Park

Red River County Park, Kewaunee County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Open Water, Beaches & Mudflats, Urban/Residential/Industrial, Mixed Coniferous Forest.

Best Birds: This spot is best as a location to glass the open water for waterbirds.  Many divers and especially Long-tailed Duck can be found into late spring. The beaches and mudflats are the most reliable spot in the county for American White Pelican and can host migrating shorebirds like Ruddy Turnstone, Dunlin, and even Piping Plover.

The forest along the water has a small creek that can hide roosting Black-crowned Night Heron and feed neotropical migrants like Golden-winged and other warblers.

Directions: 21 miles NE of Green Bay. Take Hwy 57 northeast past Dyckesville.  Follow signs to the park entrance on Park Rd at 44.6683, -87.7421.
