Habitat: Mixed Coniferous Forest, Southern Hardwood Forest, Bottomland Hardwoods, Open Water.
Best Birds: Shaginappi is part of the migration corridor along the east side of Lake Winnebago where passerines can be plentiful in the spring and fall. Year-round residents include Wild Turkey, Red-bellied Woodpecker,and Great Horned Owl. Common summer residents include Black-billed Cuckoo, Great Crested Flycatcher, and Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher. The lakeshore can produce a variety of waterfowl including American White Pelican.
Directions: 31 miles SE of Appleton/10 miles northeast of Fond du Lac, off U.S. Highway 151, west of the village of Pipe on Velvet Beach Road. The north entrance parking lot is off Velvet Beach Road (43.92112, -88.31909) and gives access via trails to the shore of the lake as well as inland forest habitats. The south entrance parking is on County Highway W (43.91441, -88.31926).
