Beaver Creek Reserve

Habitat: 800 acres of Bottomland Hardwoods, Mixed Coniferous Forest, Overgrown Oak Savannah, Open Water, and Marsh. 

Best Birds: Representative species of the Silver Maple-and-pine-dominated forest here include Ruffed Grouse, Red-shouldered Hawk, Bald Eagle, Barred Owl, Pileated Woodpecker, Yellow-throated Vireo, Veery, Mourning and Pine Warbler, and Scarlet Tanager.    

Feeders on the south side of the Nature Center attract Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Tufted Titmouse, Pine Siskin, Purple Finch, and a variety of sparrows.

On the north side of K is the Citizen Science Center (more parking) and cabins for rent. Red-breasted Nuthatch, Pine Warbler, and Hermit Thrush can be found in the coniferous habitat along Deinhammer Creek. 

Directions: Ten miles east of Eau Claire, and three miles north of Fall Creek, on Hwy K. 

Site Address & Additional Information:

The property is limited on the west by a marsh, on the south and west by the Eau Claire River. More trails can be accessed by crossing the bridge over Beaver Creek on the east side of the reserve. The Wise Nature Center (fee) overlooks the Eau Claire River Bottoms. Trails can be freely accessed east and south of the Nature Center parking lot.
