Hoffman Hills SRA, Dunn County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot 

Habitat: Marsh, Native and Restored Grasslands, Mixed Coniferous and Northern Hardwood Forest.

Best birds: The forest trails host cuckoos, a diverse variety of songbirds, like thrushes, Golden-winged and Mourning Warbler, and Scarlet Tanager. The wetlands and edges sometimes hold American Bittern and Bell’s Vireo


Directions: 23 miles NW of Eau Claire. Hoffman Hills State Recreation Area is located on 740th Street, Menomonie, WI. Take 690th Avenue W from Hwy 40 to 740th. There are two parking areas along 730th St. from which there is access to an extensive trail system. The wetlands are found in the southwest end of the area and the savanna/grasslands in the northwest. The eastern half is heavily forested.

Hoffman Hills State Recreation Area | Wisconsin DNR

The park offers a 705-acre recreational area with nine miles of hiking trails and a 60-foot observation tower at the top of the hill.
