Sensiba SWA - Resort Road Unit

Resort Rd. Ponds (Brown Co.), Brown County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Marsh, Open Water, Sedge Meadow.

Best Birds: The Resort Road unit has a large component of sedges and grasses in the marsh, especially on the south side of the road. Just before dawn or after dusk rails are vocalizing and Wilson’s Snipe and American Woodcock are skydancing overhead. Sedge Wren is a common breeder and American Bittern and Yellow-headed Blackbird are present and occasionally detected.

In winter the area has Northern Harrier, Rough-legged Hawk and occasionally Short-eared Owl. The impoundment hosts a mix of ducks in spring migration and Pied-billed Grebe stay to breed. Continue east on Resort Road to where it turns south at a 90-degree angle at the Bay to view another good location for breeding marshbirds and migratory ducks.

Directions: From the city of Green Bay, take US Highway 41/141 north to the County Road B/Sunset Beach Road exit. Take County Road B east to County Road J. Go north on County Road J to Resort Road and turn east.
