DePere Dam/Voyageur Park

De Pere Dam/Voyager Park, Brown County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Open Water.

Best Birds: The DePere Dam is the only location in the County with open water during the entire winter. Modest numbers of diving ducks and a handful of Double-crested Cormorant and American White-Pelican are typically present, even during the coldest winter days. This is an excellent place to view Bald Eagle in winter due to the open water. A walkway bridge from Voyageur Park provides good access to scan this area, and one of the widest areas of the Fox River can be scanned from a little bit farther north in Voyageur Park. This area has modest numbers of diving ducks and gulls in spring and fall migration.

Directions: Exit Interstate 41 at the County Road G/Grant Street/Main Street exit and proceed east into De Pere. Continue east over the Fox River, following signs for State Highway 32. After crossing the river, turn north on Broadway Street for 0.3 miles and then turn left onto William Street into the large parking lot.
