Red Cedar River Trail

Habitat: Northern Hardwood Forest, Alder Swamp, Open Water.

Best Birds: During migration, keep an eye out for a number of warbler species including Blackburnian and Golden-winged. Also possible are an array of sparrow species and Scarlet Tanager. During the summer season, Bald Eagle and Osprey nest along the path. The most productive section of the trail during spring and summer is generally the loop on the south side of the bridge. 

In the winter, the open water attracts many species such as: American Black Duck, Common Merganser, and Belted Kingfisher.

Directions: 56 miles N of Eau Claire. The trail follows the east side of the Red Cedar River for 3.7 miles. There are several access points along the trail. On College Avenue park behind the Goodwill Store at 45.473695, -91.745569. Another is at the end of South Street at 45.4801, -91.7487. A third parking area is at the end of West Coleman Street, 45.488325, -91.745224.
