Forest Road 182 Conifer Bog

https://ebird.org/hotspot/L16355148

Habitat: Conifer Bog.

Best Birds: Look for Olive-sided Flycatcher, Lincoln’s Sparrow, and Palm Warbler in the more open area north of the old snowmobile trail. The taller, more densely-growing Black Spruce and Tamaracks south of the trail provide habitat for Spruce Grouse, Black-backed Woodpecker, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Canada Jay, and Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Tennessee Warbler has been recorded here in summer.

Directions: 36 miles S of Ashland/7 miles NNE east of Clam Lake at the junction of FR 182 and  ATV trail #214 (46.200559, -90.790082). Walk the trail (Old Forest Road 1333) to the north for approximately 0.75 miles to where an old snowmobile trail branches off to the east. (Do not continue on the main trail at this point as there is private property not far ahead). A short downhill walk on the old snowmobile trail will take you into the northern end of the bog. Meander through the bog to the south to return to the ATV trail. Knee-high type boots recommended.
