We’ll bird various areas around the marsh, including Highway 49 and the Auto Tour. The group usually hikes 2-3 miles on Old Marsh Road, with other spots visited via car caravan – either from west or east end, depending on recent activity. We expect to find a nice variety of marsh birds (terns, rails and herons), shorebirds and waterfowl, as well as an assortment of resident passerines (including Yellow-headed Blackbird) and possibly early-fall migrants.
Please note that pre-registration on the WSO website is now required for field trip attendees, which includes the signing of waivers. Trip details will be emailed to registrants upon registration.
July 9 - WSO member registration opens
July 24 - Nonmember registration opens (if spots remain)
August 7 - Registration closes
