We’ll be meeting early – prior to sunrise to experience the dawn chorus of American Woodcock, Wilson’s Snipe, Sora and Virginia Rails, Sandhill and Whooping Cranes, and others birds of the marsh. We often find a selection of early warblers (Yellow-rumped, Yellow, Common Yellowthroat, Pine, and others), as well as Marsh and Sedge Wrens. The group will initially hike down a gravel road for a mile or two, before leaving to visit other sites via car caravan. These include several stops in White River Marsh, before continuing southward to other birding locations in Green Lake County. We typically finish our morning at Lake Maria. Bring along a lunch.
Please note that pre-registration on the WSO website is now required for field trip attendees, which includes the signing of waivers. Trip details will be emailed to registrants upon registration.
April 2 - WSO member registration opens
