Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at Riveredge Nature Center.  Pre-Meeting Bird Hikes: At 6 p.m. from May through September Mary Holleback, RNC’s adult programs manager, leads a hike across a variety of habitats preceding the program.

The Sauk Prairie Conservation Alliance promotes cooperative conservation on the lands of the former Badger Army Ammunition Plant just south of Baraboo and in the surrounding Sauk Prairie landscape. It has fought to achieve the best overall use of the plant: prairie and oak savanna restoration, providing habitat for wildlife and opportunities for quiet recreation and enjoyment while simultaneously healing the land. The Badger lands have a unique geological, natural and cultural history and they provide a wonderful opportunity for community engagement, public education, and research.
Presenting this story will be Charlie Luthin, one of the co-founders of the Alliance in 1997. He has served as executive director of three regional/statewide conservation organizations (Aldo Leopold Foundation, Wisconsin Wetlands Association and the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin) from 1995 to 2012. Charlie was hired by the Alliance as a consultant in 2015 to help build the organization and was hired in 2016 as the Alliance’s first part-time director. He also serves as development director for the Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas II.

The Riveredge Bird Club held its first meeting in March 1986 so this year we will celebrate our 33rd anniversary. The club, renamed in honor of its founder in 2014, brings together those who enjoy observing and learning more about birds and sharing these interests with others.
All activities are free and open to the public. Attend a meeting to become a member and receive our bimonthly e- newsletter, The Timberdoodle News, edited by Dani Baumann, who welcomes contributions.
