I have led two atlas trainings so far, and one suggestion has come up from them. This isn't a huge priority because I am sure there are plenty of other issues that are more pressing. But I think volunteer atlasers would find it useful to be able to navigate from the "general eBird portal" to the "WBBA II eBird portal." As I have taught about the "WBBA II eBird portal," it is confusing to volunteers that it is not obviously connected to the "general eBird portal."

Portal confusion is a bigger issue than we anticipated, and we hope to run (another) story on it this week.

When you say general eBird portal do you mean www.ebird.org ? Being as this is now a global website, I'm pretty sure we don't deserve any banner space on the front page of that. I see there is a list of regional portals on the bottom right and I'll make sure we get added to that.

Many people use Wisconsin eBird for general birding www.ebird.org/wi and we currently have a giant exclamation point on the story at the top of that page that tells about the two portals.

I'm open to suggestions about specific ways we could improve the navigation on this...

I have noticed, especially in the county that I live in (Portage Co.), that many people are regularly using just the main, global ebird.org portal. One thing I've been thinking of, is maybe having county coordinators, or someone, send these people an email informing them about the atlas portal and about the atlas project in general. This is just my suggestion and maybe it would be more work and time consuming than what it sounds, but it might be worth a try anyways.

Sorry for the extra confusion! By "general eBird portal" I meant the global one, not the one specific to Wisconsin (though maybe that would be a good route to add a connection to the atlas webpage that way?).

The portals are a bigger issue than anticipated, though I know you guys are making big efforts to help clarify! So thank you!

Absolutely Brad, as soon as we get this story on the portals up (tomorrow I hope), I intend to have the CCs combing through their county making sure people everyone is on the right page (figuratively and literally).

If you see people you know, doing this, please shoot them a reminder email. As soon as we have this story up, there will be something to link to. I'm not sure how there is that much confusion on this issue.

I'm sure you all noticed by now, but I'll post here, we do have a story up on using the two portals:

ebird.org/content/atlaswi/news/portal-pa...-atlas-observations/

And we added links on the top right of each portal to get from one to the other.
