Participants will tour portions of the state forest in search of notable resident species. These include Red-shouldered Hawks & Broad-winged Hawks, Pileated Woodpecker, Acadian, Alder, and Willow Flycatchers, 10-15 warbler species including Mourning, Canada, Hooded, Pine, and Cerulean Warblers, as well asGrasshopper, Henslow’s, and Clay-colored Sparrows. Occasionally, we encounter late migrants such asOlive-sided and Yellow-bellied Flycatchers.
A state park entrance fee is required at some sites we visit. Bring good walking shoes, because there willbe quite a bit of hiking, though leisurely. Most trails are well groomed.
