Richland County - Night sounds of West Branch of the Pine River
Friday, April 21, 2017 06:30pm

Join Atlas leader Barbara Duerksen in taking in the night sounds of one of the county’s larger wetland areas. We’ll begin in the evening listening for rails, bitterns, and other marshbirds and then take in the display flights of American Woodcock and Wilson’s Snipe. Afterward, we’ll search for nocturnally active marshbirds and owls while taking in the chorus of several species of frogs. Bring a flashlight.

This event is part of Nocturnal Atlasing Week, a fun way to learn how to collect nocturnal data for Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas II.

When: Friday, April 21, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Meet in Rockbridge at the Pier Natural Bridge Park, about 8 miles north of Richland Center. Viewing area will be a few miles upstream on the West Branch.
